International Day of Yoga
June 21 · Level 5 · #1132 of 2238

The International Day of Yoga introduces a practice that brings together movement, breathing and attention. Established by the United Nations at India’s initiative, the observance highlights yoga’s contribution to well-being and encourages people to explore its traditions.
How it is celebrated: parks, studios and public squares host open classes, breathing sessions and talks with teachers. Many events welcome beginners without expecting anyone to attempt elaborate poses.
The resolution establishing the day had 177 sponsoring countries, giving an initiative centred on one practice an exceptionally broad international backing.
