Zero Discrimination Day
March 1 · Level 10 · #219 of 2238

Zero Discrimination Day calls for everyone to be treated with dignity and to have fair access to opportunities and services. Launched by UNAIDS, it challenges prejudice linked to health, age, background and other personal characteristics.
How it is celebrated: community organisations share personal experiences, hold discussions and explain how discrimination operates. Campaigners also draw attention to laws and everyday practices that exclude people.
A butterfly serves as the day's symbol of change. Although the initiative came from the UN programme on HIV and AIDS, its message reaches well beyond discrimination associated with HIV.
