Russian Hockey Day
December 1 · Level 9 · #275 of 2238
Russian Hockey Day is a party for players, coaches and fans, and a friendly push to get more people onto the ice. The idea is simple: hockey is for kids and adults alike.
How it is celebrated: rinks host open skating sessions and amateur tournaments, young players take part in demonstration practices, and veterans meet fans to relive famous games.
The Soviet national team made its Olympic hockey debut in 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo and won gold straight away.
