Russian Special Communications Service Anniversary
August 1 · Level 6 · #905 of 2238
This anniversary honours Russia's Special Communications Service, whose staff deliver classified correspondence, valuables and other sensitive consignments. In this context, “communications” chiefly means secure physical delivery under special handling requirements.
How it is celebrated: branches congratulate employees, recognise professional achievements and honour veterans. Anniversary gatherings look back at the service's history and the responsibility involved in handling unusual deliveries.
Despite a name that might suggest radio networks or encryption, this occasion concerns a delivery service that began operating in 1939. Getting the entrusted consignment safely to its recipient is central to its work.
