Russian Ground Forces Day
October 1 · Level 10 · #23 of 2238
Russian Ground Forces Day recognises the personnel and veterans of Russia’s land forces. It brings together military specialities involved in operations on land and provides an occasion to remember the branch’s history and those who served in it.
How it is celebrated: military units hold ceremonial formations, present awards and honour veterans. Equipment displays, concerts and wreath-laying ceremonies may accompany the observance.
The Ground Forces include their own air defence troops: their work extends beyond infantry and tanks to protection against threats from the sky.
