National Philanthropy Day
November 15 · Level 4 · #1523 of 2238

In the United States this day honours the people and organisations who give money, time and effort to help others. It is a nudge that giving is not only about big donations: a lot of good is done by small, steady acts of kindness.
How it is celebrated: charities hold lunches and award ceremonies to thank donors and volunteers. Schools and workplaces run drives for food, clothes or funds, and plenty of people simply pick one cause and pitch in.
The word philanthropy comes from Greek. Philanthropia means "love of humanity".
