Partisan Glory Day in Ukraine
September 22 · Level 10 · #170 of 2238

Ukraine's Partisan Glory Day remembers the partisans and underground activists who resisted Nazi occupation during the Second World War. It also honours the people who supplied, sheltered and supported them at enormous personal risk.
How it is celebrated: commemorations include flowers at monuments and burial sites, historical exhibitions and remembrance gatherings. Museums and libraries share documents, personal accounts and the stories of resistance participants.
Underground resistance could depend on seemingly ordinary acts: carrying a message, finding medicine or offering a place to sleep. Such small tasks could make a vital contribution while placing the helper's life in danger.
