World Contact Day
March 15 · Level 4 · #1561 of 2238

A dreamy, tongue-in-cheek day when people try to reach out to beings from other worlds. UFO fans, sci-fi readers and stargazers all join in.
How it is celebrated: enthusiasts take a telescope outside after dark, beam friendly thoughts into space, watch alien movies and argue about how a reply might arrive.
The idea goes back to 1953, when an American group of UFO hobbyists, the International Flying Saucer Bureau, urged people to send a mental message to visitors from space on 15 March.
