Novorossiysk Naval Base Day
March 15 · Level 6 · #984 of 2238
This is a day for the sailors and staff of the Novorossiysk Naval Base, the Russian Navy's hub on the Black Sea. It is a moment to recall the base's history and thank the people who serve ashore and afloat.
How it is celebrated: the base holds ceremonial parades and meetings between crews and veterans. Service members receive awards and words of thanks, and their families come along to cheer them on.
Novorossiysk sits on Tsemes Bay and holds the titles of Hero City and City of Military Glory, a nod to its part in the defence of the Black Sea coast during the Second World War.
