Maple Syrup Day

Maple Syrup Day celebrates the thick, golden sweetener made from the sap of maple trees. People love its soft caramel sweetness and a smell that no other syrup quite matches.

How it is celebrated: pancakes and waffles get a generous pour, while home cooks stir the syrup into coffee, baking glazes and even meat marinades.

It takes about 40 litres of maple sap boiled down to make a single litre of syrup, and most of the world's supply comes from Canada, mainly the province of Quebec.
