Defender of the Fatherland Day in Russia
February 23 · Level 10 · #31 of 2238
Russia’s Defender of the Fatherland Day recognises military service and the defence of the country. In everyday life, it has also become a broad occasion for congratulating men and boys, including those who have never served.
How it is celebrated: people lay flowers at military memorials, attend concerts and meet veterans. Families and colleagues exchange gifts and cards, while children prepare greetings for relatives.
Despite its popular reputation as a men’s holiday, it also honours women serving in the armed forces. The role named in the title is defender, with no restriction to men.
