World Semicolon Day

A semicolon is what an author uses when a sentence could have ended but doesn't. That is why it became a symbol of support for people living through dark times and mental health struggles: the story goes on.

How it is celebrated: people draw a small semicolon on a wrist or finger, get semicolon tattoos, share kind words online and make a point of asking friends how they are really doing.

Project Semicolon, which made the symbol widely known, was founded in 2013 by American Amy Bleuel. Since then the punctuation mark has become a recognised sign of hope in many countries.
