World Fair Trade Day
May 9 · Level 6 · #1007 of 2238
World Fair Trade Day puts the people behind everyday purchases in the spotlight, from cocoa growers to craft makers. It promotes fairer trading relationships, decent pay and safe working conditions.
How it is celebrated: fair trade groups hold markets, tastings and events introducing producers and their work. Shops and community organisations explain supply chains and encourage shoppers to ask how goods were made.
The occasion moves around the calendar: it falls on the second Saturday of May, rather than a fixed date.
