Immortal Regiment Remembrance March
May 9 · Level 8 · #609 of 2238

The Immortal Regiment brings family stories into public remembrance of the Second World War. Participants honour relatives who served on the front lines or supported the war effort at home.
How it is celebrated: people carry relatives’ portraits in remembrance marches, record their memories and preserve family documents. Photographs and biographies are also shared online so younger generations can discover the people behind the names.
The modern initiative bearing this name began in Tomsk in 2012, launched by local journalists.
