United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation
September 12 · Level 9 · #265 of 2238
This United Nations observance highlights cooperation among developing countries. By exchanging knowledge, technology and practical experience, partners work together on challenges in education, healthcare, agriculture and other fields.
How it is celebrated: international meetings, discussions and project showcases bring partners together. Participants present approaches that have worked in one country and explore how others could adapt them.
The word “South” is not a literal reference to the Southern Hemisphere. It describes developing countries, so South-South partnerships can connect nations on either side of the equator.
