International Migraine Awareness Day
September 12 · Level 8 · #526 of 2238

International Migraine Awareness Day encourages understanding of migraine and support for people who live with it. Attacks can interrupt work, education and everyday plans, even when their effects are invisible to others.
How it is celebrated: patient communities and health professionals share educational materials, hold discussions and publish personal experiences. Activities focus on access to care and taking people's symptoms seriously.
Migraine does not always involve head pain: some people experience an aura without a headache. That makes the familiar description of migraine as “just a headache” particularly misleading.
