Russian Ground Forces Air Defence Day
December 26 · Level 9 · #245 of 2238
This is a professional day for the air defence troops of the Russian Ground Forces. These units cover army columns, positions and key sites against attacks from the air.
How it is celebrated: units hold ceremonial parades, hand out awards and meet veterans. Servicemen lay flowers at memorials, show off their equipment, and colleagues receive congratulations.
What sets these troops apart is mobility: their anti-aircraft systems can travel with units on the march and change position quickly. Among the systems in service are the Buk and Tor missile systems.
