National Whiners Day
December 26 · Level 1 · #2169 of 2238

A tongue-in-cheek day when you may complain about everything from a clumsy gift to the traffic. It lands the day after Christmas, once the holiday rush is over.
How it is celebrated: people grumble to each other about sweaters in the wrong size, extra calories and long queues, ideally with a smile. The rule is simple: whine until evening, then move on.
The English word whine traces back to the Old English hwīnan, meaning to whistle or whiz through the air. So whining began as just an irritating sound.
