Presidents’ Day
February 16 · Level 6 · #1104 of 2238

Presidents’ Day honours the history of the American presidency, especially George Washington. Abraham Lincoln is also closely associated with the occasion, since his birthday falls in February too.
How it is celebrated: museums and historic homes offer special programmes, while schools explore presidential lives and achievements. For many families, the third Monday in February brings a long weekend, a short trip or a chance to browse holiday sales.
Despite its familiar everyday name, the federal holiday is still officially called Washington’s Birthday.
