Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania
February 16 · Level 8 · #554 of 2238

Lithuania commemorates the 1918 declaration that restored its independent statehood. The occasion honours a decision that laid the foundations for the modern Lithuanian republic and its right to choose its own future.
How it is celebrated: yellow, green and red flags appear on buildings, official ceremonies and concerts take place, and flowers are laid at memorial sites. Schools and museums introduce visitors to the declaration’s signatories.
Lithuania has two separate restoration anniversaries: this one remembers 1918, while the March celebration marks the restoration of independence in 1990.
