Go Caroling Day
December 20 · Level 3 · #1715 of 2238
Go Caroling Day urges you to step outside and sing festive songs with friends, neighbours or colleagues. You don't need a great voice, only a bit of holiday spirit.
How it is celebrated: groups wander through streets and neighbourhoods with lanterns and songbooks, sing in parks and squares, and warm up afterwards with hot chocolate or tea.
The word "carol" comes from the Old French "carole", a ring dance accompanied by singing, so the first carols were meant to be danced as well as sung.
