National Security Employee Day (Kyrgyzstan)

In Kyrgyzstan this day honours the staff of the national security service, whose job is to protect the state from external and internal threats.
How it is celebrated: offices hold formal meetings, the best officers receive awards and letters of thanks, and veterans are invited to meet younger colleagues. It is also customary to remember those who died in the line of duty.
The service is called the State Committee for National Security, or GKNB for short. The date, 20 December, is shared with security service days in several other former Soviet countries.
