State Security Employee Day (Belarus)
December 20 · Level 9 · #267 of 2238

This is the professional day of Belarus's state security staff. It honours the people who protect the country's security, its constitutional order and its sovereignty.
How it is celebrated: offices hold formal meetings, officers who stand out receive awards, and veterans are invited to meet younger colleagues. Flowers are laid at monuments and memorials in memory of fallen colleagues.
Belarus is one of the few former Soviet countries where the central state security agency is still called the KGB. The name has been kept since Soviet times.
