Perfume Pagoda Festival
February 22 · Level 3 · #1634 of 2238

The Perfume Pagoda Festival is a season of Buddhist pilgrimage to a sacred complex near Hanoi, Vietnam. Beginning after Lunar New Year, it extends over several months rather than belonging to a fixed February date.
How it is celebrated: pilgrims travel by boat along the Yen waterway, visit temples and make their way up to Huong Tich Cave. Incense, offerings and prayers for health and family well-being are central to the visit.
Despite its singular name, the Perfume Pagoda is a collection of shrines among limestone mountains. One of its principal places of worship lies inside a natural cave.
