Russian Anti-Aircraft Missile Troops Day
July 8 · Level 9 · #413 of 2238
This service day honours Russia's anti-aircraft missile troops. Their role is to defend airspace and ground facilities against aerial attack, a task that depends on trained crews, technical expertise and carefully coordinated work.
How it is celebrated: military units congratulate personnel, recognize service achievements and welcome veterans. Commemorative events explore unit histories and the development of air defence equipment.
An anti-aircraft missile system is much more than its launcher. Detection, command and guidance equipment all contribute to its operation; the missile people recognize is only one part of the system.
