BAM Builders' Day in Russia

BAM Builders' Day celebrates the people who built the Baikal–Amur Mainline and made their lives along its route. For many workers and families, the railway meant demanding work, new settlements and friendships that lasted long after construction.

How it is celebrated: veterans reunite for concerts, photo exhibitions and evenings of shared memories. Former colleagues revisit stories from their sections of the line, often with family albums close at hand.

The Severomuysky Tunnel, one of the railway's toughest engineering projects, took more than a quarter of a century to build. It opened in 2003, long after the main route had been connected.
