Math 2.0 Day

A playful day that invites you to meet maths again as a game, a puzzle and a way of understanding the world. It is for number lovers and for anyone who once decided maths was not for them.

How it is celebrated: people solve brain teasers and riddles, play logic games and race each other at mental arithmetic. A team can run a small puzzle tournament over lunch.

The equals sign was introduced in 1557 by the Welsh mathematician Robert Recorde, who chose two parallel lines of equal length because, he said, nothing could be more alike.
