World Rat Day
April 4 · Level 1 · #2208 of 2238
World Rat Day gives pet rats a chance to escape their rather unfair reputation. Enthusiasts use the occasion to introduce these curious, social animals and explain the care they need, including suitable housing, companionship and things to explore.
How it is celebrated: owners share pet photos and stories, swap care advice and support rat rescues. Community discussions help prospective keepers understand what life with rats involves beyond buying a cage and food.
During play and tickling, rats produce ultrasonic calls. Those sounds are too high-pitched for human ears to hear without special equipment.
