International Internet Day

International Internet Day is an informal occasion to reflect on the network that connects our work, learning and friendships. April 4 is one of several dates used to celebrate the internet, rather than a universally observed anniversary with a shared programme.

How it is celebrated: users and online communities share memories of getting connected, post internet history and discuss digital habits. Activities range from greetings between colleagues to conversations about access to the network.

The internet and the World Wide Web are different things. Websites run on internet infrastructure, while email and other network services operate beyond the web itself.
