World Mental Health Day
October 10 · Level 8 · #623 of 2238

World Mental Health Day encourages people to take mental wellbeing seriously and makes space for conversations that can be hard to start. Its aims include better access to support and less stigma around mental health difficulties.
How it is celebrated: professionals and community organisations run talks, discussions and awareness campaigns. Schools and workplaces explore ways to offer support, while people who feel comfortable doing so share their experiences.
The observance began in 1992 through the World Federation for Mental Health. It started with a civil society organisation rather than a United Nations resolution.
