World Homeless Day

World Homeless Day draws attention to people without a stable home and to the reasons that push them onto the street. The aim is less pity and more practical support.
How it is celebrated: volunteers and shelters organise community meals, collect warm clothes and food, and hold fundraisers and meetings, while local groups come up with their own events.
The day falls on 10 October, the same date as World Mental Health Day, and the two topics are closely linked: housing and wellbeing affect each other.
