World Day Against the Death Penalty
October 10 · Level 9 · #366 of 2238

This day brings people together to call for an end to the death penalty and defend the right to life. It also raises a difficult question about justice: what happens when a court makes a mistake that cannot be undone?
How it is celebrated: human rights groups hold public discussions, documentary screenings and awareness campaigns. Supporters sign appeals and listen to people whose lives have been affected by death sentences.
The World Coalition Against the Death Penalty launched the first observance in 2003, giving organisations across borders a shared day of action.
