World Information Management Day
February 19 · Level 4 · #1380 of 2238

This day is for the people who keep data in order: archivists, librarians, records managers and IT teams. It reminds us that collecting information is not enough; you also have to find it, keep it and protect it.
How it is celebrated: organisations run workshops and webinars, review how long documents should be kept, sort through shared folders and refresh their archives. Many teams treat it as a spring-cleaning day for files.
Metadata was not invented by programmers. Library catalogue cards, with an author, a title and a shelf mark for every book, did the same job long before computers.
