World Immunization Week

World Immunization Week is a WHO campaign about protecting people from infectious diseases through vaccines. Held in the final week of April, it highlights access to vaccination throughout life.

How it is celebrated: health organisations hold information sessions, answer questions about vaccines and organise vaccination activities. Public resources explain the purpose of immunisation and help people find out about programmes available in their communities.

The first worldwide observance took place in 2012. Regional vaccination weeks had existed before then; bringing them together created a shared international campaign with a common place in the calendar.
