International Day of Women in Diplomacy
June 24 · Level 2 · #1993 of 2238

This United Nations observance recognises women who negotiate agreements, represent their countries and work for peace. It also calls for equal participation in diplomacy, so that women have a full voice in decisions that cross borders.
How it is celebrated: diplomatic missions and international organisations host discussions, professional gatherings and awareness campaigns. Speakers share career experiences, examine barriers to advancement and explain the work behind international negotiations.
The UN General Assembly established the day in 2022. Its focus is women across the profession, rather than the achievements of a single celebrated diplomat.
