Quebec National Day

Quebec National Day celebrates the province’s culture and shared identity, with French-language music and heritage taking centre stage. It is a chance for communities to come together and celebrate what makes Quebec distinctive.

How it is celebrated: outdoor concerts, parades and neighbourhood parties fill public spaces. Blue-and-white fleur-de-lis flags appear everywhere, and many festivities begin the evening before.

The celebration began as the feast of Saint John the Baptist. Quebec officially designated it the Fête nationale in 1977, giving a religious occasion a broader civic role.
