World Philosophy Day

World Philosophy Day makes room for questions with no easy answers: what is fair, what counts as knowledge, and how should we live? UNESCO promotes the day to encourage critical thinking and dialogue across different viewpoints.

How it is celebrated: schools, universities and cultural venues host talks, debates and public discussions. Participants explore ethical dilemmas, read philosophical works and practise listening carefully to arguments they may disagree with.

The observance moves around the calendar. It falls on the third Thursday of November, so the date changes even though the weekday stays the same.
