Beaujolais Nouveau Day
November 19 · Level 8 · #667 of 2238

Beaujolais Nouveau Day welcomes the new harvest's young wine from France's Beaujolais region. Made for early drinking, it reaches the table just weeks after the grapes are picked, turning its release into a lively seasonal occasion.
How it is celebrated: wine bars, restaurants and wineries host tastings, dinners and gatherings. Local festivities take place in France, and some venues welcome the release just after midnight on the third Thursday of November.
Beaujolais Nouveau is made from Gamay grapes. Part of its production involves fermentation inside intact berries, a process that helps create its distinctive fruity aromas.
