University Teachers' Day in Russia

November 19 · Level 4 · #1467 of 2238

Russia's University Teachers' Day recognizes the people who help students build professional knowledge, learn to investigate and think independently. It is a chance to thank a lecturer for a clear explanation, thoughtful feedback or a question that changed someone's perspective.

How it is celebrated: universities congratulate staff, present awards and share examples of teaching achievements. Students and graduates send messages of thanks, while institutions arrange gatherings and open lectures.

The date marks Mikhail Lomonosov's birthday. His connection with both scholarship and education makes him a fitting figure for a celebration of university teaching.
