Missile Troops and Artillery Day in Belarus
November 19 · Level 10 · #19 of 2238
Belarus marks Missile Troops and Artillery Day to recognize serving personnel and veterans of these branches. The occasion honours their service, training and military traditions, including the precise calculations and coordination their work requires.
How it is celebrated: military units hold ceremonial formations, congratulate personnel and present awards. Meetings with veterans recall unit histories and the experiences of those who served in earlier generations.
The date comes from the Soviet Artillery Day tradition. It recalls the opening of the 1942 counteroffensive at Stalingrad, when a major artillery bombardment preceded the advance.
