Ust-Tsilma Gorka Folk Festival

Ust-Tsilma Gorka celebrates old Russian singing and circle-dance traditions preserved in Ust-Tsilma, in the Komi Republic. For local families, it is a gathering where clothing, songs and movement carry memories from one generation to the next.

How it is celebrated: participants wear traditional festive dress and gather on a meadow to dance to Gorka songs. Experienced performers guide the sequence, while spectators watch the community create a shared performance.

The main dance contains seven required formations performed in a set order. Moving around a circle is only the beginning: the dancers work together to form a much more elaborate pattern.
