Fisherman's Day in Ukraine
July 12 · Level 4 · #1468 of 2238

Ukraine's Fisherman's Day recognises fisheries workers and is also embraced by recreational anglers. It draws attention to the people behind the catch, from fishing crews to fish-farming teams and the businesses that bring fish to the table.
How it is celebrated: workplaces congratulate staff and acknowledge their professional achievements. Anglers traditionally meet by the water to exchange tips and fishing stories, where local safety conditions allow.
The Ukrainian decree establishing the holiday was issued in 1995 in response to an initiative from fisheries workers and trade unions. It placed the celebration on the second Sunday in July.
