Unfriend Day

A tongue-in-cheek day for tidying up your social media friends list. The idea is to keep the people you really talk to and let go of the ones whose faces you can barely place.

How it is celebrated: people scroll through their contacts and quietly remove random acquaintances, silent accounts and constant spammers. It is also a good moment to message real friends and plan a meet-up.

The day comes from talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who on 17 November 2010 jokingly urged his viewers to unfriend people on Facebook whom they hardly knew.
