Kyrgyz Cinema Day
November 17 · Level 3 · #1745 of 2238

Kyrgyz Cinema Day celebrates Kyrgyzstan's filmmaking tradition and the people who bring its stories to the screen. Directors, performers, camera crews and audiences share an occasion for exploring the country's languages, landscapes and memories through film.
How it is celebrated: screenings, retrospectives and meetings with filmmakers introduce new work and revisit established favourites. Industry gatherings also recognise the contribution of cinema veterans.
The anniversary traces back to the founding of the Frunze newsreel studio in 1941. That documentary filmmaking operation developed into the studio known as Kyrgyzfilm.
