Software Tester's Day in Russia

September 9 · Level 5 · #1298 of 2238

Software Tester's Day in Russia is an informal celebration of the people who find software problems before users do. It recognises the value of awkward but useful questions, such as what happens when someone presses the same button twice.

How it is celebrated: teams congratulate their testing colleagues, share stories about unusual defects and hold professional meetups. Workplace chats fill with jokes about bugs and the patience required to track them down.

The date recalls a moth found in a Harvard Mark II computer relay in 1947 and taped into a logbook. However, engineers had used the word “bug” for faults long before that incident.
