Fast Before Sadeh
September 20 · Level 1 · #2219 of 2238

This is a period of restraint and preparation before Sadeh, the Zoroastrian festival of fire. Believers tune in to the celebration through simplicity and focus.
How it is celebrated: in some communities people eat less and avoid meat, cut back on entertainment, and spend more time in prayer and reflection.
Sadeh itself is held fifty days before Nowruz, and on that evening people light big bonfires to honour the discovery of fire.
