Day of the Drug Control Units of the Russian Interior Ministry
December 6 · Level 9 · #233 of 2238

This is a professional day for police officers who fight the illegal drug trade. It recognises the demanding and often unseen work of detectives, forensic experts and investigators.
How it is celebrated: units hold formal meetings, the best officers receive awards, colleagues remember those lost in the line of duty, and veterans of the service are invited to join. It is also one of the few moments when people can talk about the job without paperwork.
In 2016 Russia's Federal Drug Control Service was abolished and its duties passed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Today the work is handled by the ministry's Main Directorate for Drug Control.
