International Pinot Meunier Day
December 16 · Level 1 · #2033 of 2238

A day for one of the three main grapes of Champagne. Wine fans mark it to give a little spotlight to a variety that often stays in the shadow of its more famous cousins.
How it is celebrated: wine lovers open a bottle of sparkling or still Pinot Meunier, hold tastings and tell friends what makes the grape special.
Pinot Meunier is one of the three main Champagne grapes, alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Meunier is French for "miller", because the leaves look as if they were dusted with flour.
