International Joke Day
July 1 · Level 7 · #711 of 2238

A day for a good joke and the laughter that brings people closer. It is the perfect excuse to dig out your favourite gag and cheer up everyone nearby.
How it is celebrated: friends and colleagues swap jokes in group chats and over coffee, hold friendly punchline contests and retell the funniest moments of the year. A fair rule is one joke per person, no repeats.
One of the oldest surviving joke collections is the Greek Philogelos, meaning Laughter-Lover. It holds roughly 260 short jokes, and a good many of them poke fun at absent-minded scholars.
