International Beaver Day
April 7 · Level 6 · #919 of 2238

Beavers are nature's best-known engineers, and their dams can reshape whole river valleys. This day celebrates what these animals do for wetlands and reminds people why healthy rivers and marshes matter.
How it is celebrated: conservation groups share stories about beaver life, nature lovers head to ponds and streams to look for gnawed trunks and lodges, and schools and clubs run talks about wetland wildlife.
A beaver's teeth never stop growing, and the front of its incisors is orange because of iron in the enamel. That iron makes the teeth tougher, which helps them cut through hard wood.
